Recognized twice in D Magazine's "Best Hair Salons in Dallas" as both the Best Hair Colorist and the Best Special Event Hairstylist, Sam Columbus Cathey III continues to earn his credentials every day with his clients, most of whom have been with him for many years.

"I love creating a wearable work of art, which is what a wonderful hair style really is," Sam says. "It is such an integral part of an individual's personal and professional identity. In fact, I realize the important, trusted role we have in creating and maintaining the images of our clients. The best for me is seeing a smile on the face of a client with a new look that really works for his or her lifestyle." Sam's priority is listening to his clients to achieve the look they want and he attends national and international conferences to stay current on the latest trends and techniques.

An artist at heart and by training, Sam studied fine arts before becoming a hair stylist and color specialist. Now a professional for 17 years, he graduated from the acclaimed Ogle School of Hair Design which was named in the top five styling schools in the U.S. He also studied under Wella's Artistic Design team and with the renowned Trevor Sorbie in London. Sam apprenticed in the internationally recognized Dallas studio of London-based Alan Stone Salon.

Sam Cathey is sponsoring a cut, color, and style for the winner of Jay Johnson's New Body Boot Camp Challenge for the person who loses the largest percentage of body fat during the challenge. The competition runs from January 26 to March 30, 2010.
